Concert by Ben Hutcheson, a Bristol-born country rock singer-songwriter, performing live at Lil' Nashville.
Ben Hutcheson plays Lil' Nashville on Friday 16 October, a Bristol date on his Lil Nashville tour. He's a young country rock singer-songwriter born and bred here in Bristol, and this is one of the few times he'll be playing on home turf during the run.
He's billed himself as the South West's answer to country rock, and he describes his sound as bridging the storytelling of Luke Combs, Ed Sheeran and Scotty McCreery. It's a fair enough way to put it: you've got the country songwriting of Combs and McCreery meeting the pop sensibilities of Sheeran. He started out on his own, releasing his first two EPs unaided, and has played around the UK since then. He's now put out a self-titled debut album and has run up over 40 million streams.
He's not just a solo act, though. On the night he'll be backed by a full band: Finlay Bradley on drums, Jack Scanlon on bass and vocals, Ben Hutcheson himself on guitar and vocals, Fionn McGuiness Maris on guitar and vocals, and Faith Everitt on keys and vocals. With three people singing, there's plenty of room for harmonies on the choruses. He's played alongside the likes of Scouting For Girls, Billy Ocean, Kezia Gill and Natalie Imbruglia, and his single 'Living For The Weekend' was nominated for UK Country Song of the Year at the UK Country Awards. BBC Radio Bristol has also featured him as House artist of the week.
