A daytime stand-up comedy club curated by Angie Belcher, designed for parents and carers to cope with parenthood through mature comedy.
Aftermirth is back at Tobacco Factory Theatres on Wednesday 21 October, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. It's an adult daytime comedy club curated and compered by Angie Belcher, set up as a way for parents to cope with parenthood through stand-up. The format is straightforward: three top circuit comedians deliver their usual club routines — mature and sweary, with the odd birth story flashback — but during the day.
It's not just for parents, though. The room is open to aunts, uncles, grans and carers, and anyone else who needs some daytime comedy and doesn't mind a few cute babies in attendance. Babies under one year are welcome, and the whole thing is run with reduced amplification and dimmed lighting, so it's a bit softer on the senses than your average comedy night. There are snacks and drinks available in the café, too, which is handy if you're coming with a little one in tow.

If you've never been, it's worth remembering that this is a daytime club, not a kids' show. The comedy is adult, and the comedians bring the same sets they'd do in a late-night club, just shifted to the morning. It's a bit of a rarity in the city — a proper stand-up bill you can catch before lunch, in a room that welcomes babies rather than asking you to leave them at home. Tickets are £15, and it runs from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Tobacco Factory Theatres on Raleigh Road, BS3 1TF.
