Interactive show by Tidal Tales Collective blending oral history, live music and storytelling, celebrating Global Majority trailblazers.
Tidal Tales Collective bring Adventures in Hidden History to The Trinity Centre on Friday 16 October, starting at 5:30 PM in the Main Hall. It's billed as family theatre, so it's one you can bring the kids along to rather than leaving them at home.
The show blends oral history, live music and storytelling, and the focus is on Global Majority trailblazers — the people who've made their mark but don't always get the space they deserve in the history books. It's an interactive one, too, so you're not just sitting and watching; you'll be part of the evening as the stories unfold.
Knowing the venue helps set the scene. The Trinity Centre is a Grade II* listed former church in East Bristol that's been a fixture of the city's music scene since the 1970s. It's hosted movements like dub, ska, jungle and the Bristol Sound, with Joy Division, The Specials, Prodigy and Public Enemy all playing its stage. Since 2004 it's run as a multi-arts venue and community arts centre, and it's kept its soundsystem roots by booking local regulars like Teachings in Dub, Sofa Sound and Timedance alongside live music, theatre, dance and community events.

Behind the scenes, it's home to Trinity Community Arts, a Bristol charity and civic arts organiser with the mission to 'Empower Communities Through the Arts', welcoming more than 73,000 people every year. The charity also looks after Jacobs Wells Baths, another civic cultural space it's reimagining. Adventures in Hidden History fits right into that mix of community and arts. It runs on Friday 16 October from 5:30 PM in the Main Hall of The Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol BS2 0NW.
