Talk by psychotherapist Anna Mathur on rage, burnout and emotional overload, followed by Q&A.
Anna Mathur is speaking at Brighthelm Church and Community Centre on Wednesday 14 October, from 19:00 to 21:30. She's a psychotherapist and a four-time Sunday Times bestselling author, and the talk is titled Why You Keep Snapping: Turning Rage Into Your Greatest Tool.
Mathur's whole premise here is that anger isn't the problem, but a signal. When you understand what it's actually pointing to, she argues it can become a source of clarity, compassion and connection rather than something to just suppress or feel guilty about. She'll be drawing on her new book, How to Stop Snapping at the People You Love (As Well As The Ones You Don't), to work through a few things we've all probably dealt with: why we're often cruellest to the people closest to us, what our rage is actually trying to tell us, and how to channel that energy towards change instead of destruction. It's the kind of thing that hits home if you've ever found yourself losing it at the people you actually like, and then spending the next hour wondering why you did it.
