Noise rock project Weird Nightmare, led by Alex Edkins, performs live at Alphabet in Brighton to promote the album 'Hoopla'.
If you have been following Alex Edkins’ work, particularly his time with METZ, you might be interested to know that his solo project, Weird Nightmare, is coming to Brighton. He is scheduled to perform at Alphabet on 29 August 2026. This show is part of the tour supporting his latest album, Hoopla, which was released earlier this year on 1 May. It is a chance to see how he is shifting gears from his previous work, incorporating a wider range of textures like piano, bells, and castanets into his sound, while still drawing on influences that span from 60s psychedelic rock to 90s DIY aesthetics.

The event is set to run from 19:00 to 22:00. Tickets are priced at £15.00. Regarding the venue, Alphabet is located at 11 Dyke Road, Brighton, BN1 3FE. It is worth noting that the building is a Grade II listed property dating back to the 1860s, which presents some practical challenges. Specifically, there is no step-free access to the main room due to two large staircases. If you have specific mobility requirements, it is advisable to contact the venue in advance to discuss what arrangements might be possible.
In terms of the audience, the show is open to those aged 14 and over, though anyone under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult. It is a straightforward setup for anyone who enjoys noise rock, indie rock, or power-pop and wants to hear the new material from Hoopla in a live setting. The event is being organised by Love Thy Neighbour, and you can find the tickets through their channels if you are planning to attend.
