A candlelit piano concert of Ludovico Einaudi's music, performed by Richard Pinel, designed to create a space for peace and relaxation.
Richard Pinel brings the piano music of Ludovico Einaudi to St Mary's Church in Kemptown on Saturday 17 October, starting at 8:00pm. It's a candlelit performance, with Einaudi's work played inside the church, and the whole thing runs for about an hour without an interval, which leaves plenty of time for dinner afterwards.
The evening is built around Einaudi's piano music, and the candlelit setting is a big part of it. The organisers describe it as a space for peace, relaxation and stillness, with the aim of washing away the stresses of the day. It's a performance for all ages: children are welcome, though they're asked to stay seated and quiet.
Pinel is the Assistant Director of Music at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, where he accompanies the choir in some eight services a week. He read music as an organ scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, and under the direction of the former King's Singer Bill Ives, the Grammy-nominated choir recorded on the Harmonia Mundi USA label, where his playing was hailed as 'a force of nature'.
