A panel show exploring the effects of stress and anxiety, featuring broadcaster Claudia Hammond and University of Sussex psychologists, with an interactive Q&A and book signings.
Claudia Hammond brings her Think Again! panel show to Ironworks Studios on Monday 16 November, for an evening looking at what stress does to us and how to stop it from getting the better of us. Hammond fronts the series, and she's a familiar voice for many of us: she presents All in the Mind on BBC Radio 4 and is a Visiting Professor of the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University of Sussex. The format is a panel show, and the whole thing is built on research rather than anecdote, so it's more about what the science says than just sharing stories.
Joining her on the panel are two psychologists from the University of Sussex. Professor Gilly Forrester is an evolutionary and developmental psychologist whose work compares humans and non-human great apes, and Dr Gillian Sandstrom is an associate professor and Director of the Sussex Centre for Research on Kindness, the UK's first academic centre devoted to the study of kindness. Together they'll be talking through how stress, anxiety and the pressures of the modern world affect our minds and bodies.
The night is aimed at an audience of 14 and over, with an interval pay bar and an interactive Q&A where you can get involved. It closes with book signings by Hammond, who'll be signing Overwhelmed, and Sandstrom, who'll be signing Once Upon a Stranger.
