Acoustic folk and indie-pop performance by the Irish sisters Hannah and Meghan Woodger at The Folklore Rooms.
The Woodgies play The Folklore Rooms on Tuesday 2 February, part of the Folklore Sessions series. They're an Irish sister duo, Hannah and Meghan Woodger, and the set is acoustic, blending indie-pop and folk. They describe their music as having the warmth and intimacy only siblings can bring, which fits the sort of thing Folklore Sessions usually brings to the room.
If you haven't come across them before, the sound sits right between those two labels: the melodic, song-focused side of indie-pop and the stripped-back, acoustic tradition of folk. With just the two of them on stage, it's a small setup, and the whole thing is built around their voices working together. It's the kind of gig that works best in a room where you're close to the stage, rather than watching from the back of a hall.
The Folklore Rooms is on North Street, and it's known for its intimate space and the Folklore Sessions bookings it hosts. The Woodgies are the sole bill for the night, so they'll be the only act on the programme. It's an 18+ event, so you'll need to be over eighteen to get in.
