The Specials Ltd. perform classics and fan favourites in this authentic tribute to the 2-Tone Records legends.
The Specials LTD are bringing their 'Gangsters' tour to Chalk on Saturday 29 May 2027. Presented by AGMP Concerts, this show focuses on the legacy of the 2-Tone Records label, specifically the work of The Specials. The band formed in 2018, following the dissolution of the original group back in 1981, and they aim to recreate the energy and multicultural, anti-racial stance that defined the original act’s fusion of punk, ska, and reggae. It’s a specific look back at the sound that combined those genres with sharp lyrical commentary on the state of Britain during the late 70s and early 80s.

The group consists of eight to nine members and includes musicians who have collaborated with The Specials' original guitarist, Roddy Radiation. They describe themselves as a tribute to the pioneers of the 2-Tone sound, and their approach is to maintain the authenticity of the original material. Their setlist for this tour is built around the classics and fan favourites that defined that era. You can expect to hear tracks like Gangsters, Do The Dog, Message To You Rudy, Stereotype, Rat Race, Do Nothing, Monkey Man, Too Much Too Young, and Ghost Town. It’s a comprehensive run through the catalogue that made the label significant.
The venue for the night is Chalk, located at 13 Pool Valley. It’s an all-ages show, though there is a restriction of 14+ for entry. Doors open at 18:30, and the performance is scheduled to run until 22:00. Tickets are priced between £25 plus booking fees and £28.79. It’s a straightforward setup for anyone interested in the ska and 2-Tone scene, whether you’re familiar with the original records or just getting into the genre. Given the venue's capacity and the nature of the tour, it’s worth noting the age restriction and the timing if you’re planning your evening around the 18:30 door time.
