Saturday stand-up comedy night at Brighton's award-winning grassroots comedy venue, with a new headliner and MC each week.
The Secret Comedy Club is back with its Saturday night line-up on 3 October at Artista in Brighton. It's one of the city's few grassroots comedy clubs that runs five nights a week, with stand-up every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and special shows on select Thursdays and Sundays. The club describes itself as Brighton's most welcoming, friendly and intimate comedy space, and it runs a strict no-heckling policy to keep the atmosphere warm and positive.
The room is 16+, so it's one for the older crowd rather than a late-night student thing. The line-up changes every week, with a new headliner and MC each night, which means you're rarely seeing the same bill twice. It's a small venue, and it's picked up awards along the way, including Best Brighton Fringe Venue.
Over the years, the stage has hosted a long list of names you'll recognise from TV. Dane Baptiste, the first black British act nominated for a BAFTA for stand-up, has played here, alongside Sean Walsh, Zoe Lyons, Henning Wehn, Fiona Allen, Marlon Davis, Esther Manito, Simon Evans, Jen Brister, Phil Nichol and Adam Bloom. A good few of them have appeared on Live at the Apollo, so the room has a habit of bringing in acts who've gone on to much bigger stages.

If you're looking for a Saturday night that doesn't involve a dancefloor, this is a reliable bet. It's at The Secret Comedy Club, inside Artista, and the next session is Saturday 3 October.
