The Secret Comedy Club Fridays

The Secret Comedy Club is running its Friday nights at Artista in Brighton, with two shows coming up on Friday 16 October and Friday 23 October. It's a club that's been booking stand-up for about five years now, and it's one of the few in the city to put on shows every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. They describe it as Brighton & Hove's premier intimate comedy venue, and they've built it around a strict no-heckling policy, so it's a friendly room rather than a rowdy one. In 2021, it picked up the Audience Choice Award for Best Fringe Venue.

The format is the same for both dates: a brand-new line-up, a new headliner and a new MC every week, so the two nights are completely different. On Friday 16 October, the bill is Aaron Mason, Sam See, Lucas Jones Ho, Kate-Lois Elliott, Jack Henry and Stephen Carlin. The following week, Friday 23 October, brings in Tom Dell, Stella Graham, Daniel Tizon, Rez Bhatt, Bennet Kavanagh and Andrea Hubert. The room has hosted award-winning stage and screen headliners alongside up-and-coming UK names, and since the line-up changes every single week, you'll see a different set of comics each time you go.

Both nights run on the same schedule: doors open at 7pm, and the show runs from 8:10pm to 10:30pm. Tickets are £25 on the door, though they're very limited, so it's worth getting there early if you're not booking in advance. With the club running four nights a week, it's easy to find a slot that fits your schedule, and the no-heckling rule means you can just sit back and listen without worrying about the crowd getting in the way.
