The Secret Comedy Club Open Mic AKA See You Next Tuesday

See You Next Tuesday is back at The Secret Comedy Club on Tuesday 28 July, part of the weekly open mic that's become one of Brighton's longest-running comedy nights. It's a new-material night, which is exactly what it sounds like: comedians coming in to test out fresh bits before they make it into a polished show. The club bills it as the leading new-material night on the South Coast, and it's an independent venue that welcomes professional, semi-professional and amateur comics alike. The room itself has been developed over the last five years into an intimate stand-up space, and the club describes itself as the highest rated comedy club in Brighton, with household-name TV comedians regularly dropping in to work on new material.

Because it's an open mic, the line-up changes every week. The format is fast-paced: up to 15 comedians each get a five-minute slot, so you'll hear a good range of voices in one sitting. It's also a scouting ground for the club's weekend gigs and for shows like the Brighton Fringe Festival, which voted the venue Best Fringe Venue in the 2021 Audience Choice Awards. For the comics, there's a practical side too: performers can buy video and audio of their set for £5, which is how a lot of new material gets refined.
