A six-strong cast performs the classic comic opera The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan at the Brighton Open Air Theatre.
The Brighton Open Air Theatre, located in Dyke Road Park, is hosting a production of The Pirates of Penzance on 5 September 2026. This classic Gilbert & Sullivan musical features a cast of six actor-singers accompanied by an orchestral arrangement. The story follows Frederick, who has been an apprentice pirate since childhood. He is bound to serve the Pirate King until his 21st birthday, but because he was born on 29 February, he technically only has four birthdays, extending his service until he reaches the age of 84. The production incorporates well-known songs such as 'To be a Pirate King!' and 'The Modern Major General' within its narrative.
