Private exhibition of prints and original artwork by the street art collective THE POSTMAN, raising funds for My Charity and the new NHS Sussex Cancer Centre.
If you're looking for something interesting and local next week, the Brighton-based street art collective THE POSTMAN is hosting a private exhibition called The Nature of Healthcare. This isn't just a typical gallery show; it’s happening right inside the Royal Sussex County Hospital, specifically in the Heritage Space of the Louisa Martindale Building on Eastern Road. This exhibition is part of a broader initiative that recently saw the unveiling of a huge, vibrant mural on the hoardings of the new NHS Sussex Cancer Centre, which will remain visible throughout 2025 and 2026. The project aims to connect with the community and enhance the well-being and positive experiences of patients and staff at the University Hospitals Sussex Trust.

The private viewing is scheduled for two evenings: Thursday, February 5th, and Friday, February 6th, 2026, running from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM both nights. The exhibition itself is an exclusive presentation of bespoke artwork by THE POSTMAN, featuring both original pieces and prints. The collection is described as a visual meditation on resilience, drawing inspiration from the nature of Sussex. The artists hope that this art will genuinely help the healing process for patients and generally bring joy and elevate morale. As one patient, Lucy Delano, put it, this is "art for people, not art for patients."
Crucially, this event is focused on fundraising. Proceeds from the sales of these works will go directly to My Charity, an organization dedicated to supporting seven NHS hospitals across the county, with the specific goal of improving facilities at the cancer centre. If you are interested in seeing the collection or potentially acquiring one of the original works or prints, keep in mind that visits to this private exhibition are limited. It’s a unique chance to see their work up close while supporting a vital local cause right here in Brighton.
