Second heat of Brighton's plant-based cook-off, where chefs create vegan dishes for diners to taste and vote on.
The Great MOSHIMO Vegan Challenge returns to Moshimo on Thursday 10 December, with Heat 2 running from 19:00 to 22:00. It's Brighton's original plant-based cook-off, first held back in 2010, and one of the city's earliest events to champion plant-based eating as a more sustainable choice — a long-running commitment that earned it a PETA Proggy award.
The format is straightforward: some of the city's most exciting chefs, many of whom don't normally cook vegan, are each tasked with creating a plant-based dish. As a diner, you taste them and vote for your favourite. The top three dishes across the two heats then go through to a Grand Final in spring 2027.
Across the two heats, the line-up includes Cashew Catering, Ospalla in the Raw, Bonsai Plant Kitchen, Reading Room, Beelzebab, Red Roaster, Fumar, Papa Dumpling, The Market, B'Neen, Selvin Perez, Jes James of Lost in the Lanes, and Gemma Ogston. That's a fair cross-section of the city's food scene, with a good few names you'll recognise from around town.

If you're wondering whether it's worth getting in early, last year's event sold out within 24 hours, so it's the sort of thing that doesn't hang around. You'll find Moshimo at Bartholomew Square, Brighton, BN1 1JS, and this heat runs from 19:00 to 22:00 on Thursday 10 December.
