Plant-based cook-off in which chefs create vegan dishes for diners to taste and vote on, with the top three advancing to the Grand Final.
The Great MOSHIMO Vegan Challenge returns to Moshimo on Thursday 19 November, with the first of two heats running from 19:00 to 22:00. It's a plant-based cook-off that's been a Brighton fixture since 2010, and it holds a bit of history: it was one of the city's first events to champion plant-based eating as a more sustainable choice, and it went on to win a PETA Proggy award.
The format is as much for the diners as for the cooks. Everyone tastes every dish and votes for their favourite, and the top three from the heats go through to a Grand Final in spring 2027. It's not a night where you just sit and watch; you're part of the judging.
Across the two heats, the line-up includes Cashew Catering, Ospalla in the Raw, Bonsai Plant Kitchen, Reading Room, Beelzebab, Red Roaster, Fumar, Papa Dumpling, The Market, B'Neen, Selvin Perez, Jes James of Lost in the Lanes, and Gemma Ogston. That's a fair spread of names to work through over the course of the competition.

Seats are limited, and last year's event sold out within 24 hours, so it's one to get sorted sooner rather than later. Heat 1 runs from 19:00 to 22:00 at Moshimo, Bartholomew Square, Brighton, BN1 1JS.
