Tagore Chayne plays The Folklore Rooms on Sunday 6 September, as part of the Folklore Sessions series. It's a solo night, with Chayne as the sole name on the bill.
Chayne is a Brighton-based independent DIY folk and indie-folk singer-songwriter, and this is a local show for him. He works with story-driven, lyrical acoustic music, and he describes his writing as blending whimsical imagery with melancholic undercurrents. That's a fair summary of the sound: folk songs that lean into the storytelling side of the tradition, with a focus on the lyrics and the acoustic guitar.
Because he's a DIY artist, the whole thing is handled in-house, and the set is built around his own songwriting. It's a singer-songwriter in the most direct sense of the phrase—just him, his guitar, and the songs. If you're into the quieter, more lyrical end of folk, this is exactly that.
