How To Make Friends presents a special live show celebrating Superfriends' debut album King Of The Moths, with support from Had Sandy, Psychic & Wellbeing Event and Daffodildos.
Superfriends are playing Daltons on Monday 31 August, with the night presented by How To Make Friends. It's an album release show for King Of The Moths, their debut record, and they're playing it in full — the first and only time they'll ever do that. If you've been following them, it's a proper chance to hear the whole thing from start to finish rather than just the bits that make it into a usual set.
They describe King Of The Moths as a darker set of songs than their previous work, and the themes are pretty specific: endings, new beginnings, and growing up in your thirties. The songs run through a cast of office dreamers, villainous landlords, ancient creatures, and moths. Sound-wise, they're still big, bright punk songs, and the comparison to Jeff Rosenstock and The Mountain Goats fits if you're familiar with that sort of thing — punchy, melodic, and with a bit of a narrative thread running through them.
There's a full supporting line-up to fill out the night. Had Sandy are a four-piece DIY rock and post-hardcore band from Brighton, so they're local to the city. Psychic & Wellbeing Event are a sludge-pop trio, and Daffodildos are a sober queer punk act. Between the three of them, you've got DIY rock, sludge-pop, and queer punk on the same bill, so the evening should hold its own long before Superfriends take over.

Daltons is on the Lower Promenade, BN2 1TB, and tickets are £15 for general admission and £8 for low income. With the album played in full, it's a one-off rather than a standard tour date, so if you've been wanting to hear King Of The Moths as a whole, this is the night to do it.
