Spectra X Mayka Scene takes over The Oculist on Saturday 29 August, a club night that brings together a whole line-up of DJ-vocalists. The bill runs from Isla Grace, Leon, Skye.7.7.7, Xalia, Trrye Hard, and Maÿka, with NadiaF*ckingZaki making her Brighton debut. It's a long one, too: it kicks off at 20:00 and runs through until 03:00 on Sunday morning.
The night comes from a collaboration between Spectra and Mayka Scene. The organisers describe it as a gathering of multi-talented divas alongside some of Brighton's finest selectors and DJ-vocalists, which gives you a fair idea of what to expect — a room full of people who can both spin and sing, rather than a DJ in the booth and a singer on the mic. It's the second time Mayka Scene has run, following a previous night that the organisers called a hit, and this time it's staged with Spectra.
The Oculist presents the night, and it's a venue that fits the bill. It's an events-led bar in Brighton known for house, garage, disco and techno until late, so the music should sit comfortably with what the room is used to. The whole thing is strictly 18+.
