A non-profit musical parody of the 1996 classic Space Jam featuring original songs and animated characters.
If you grew up watching the 1996 classic Space Jam, you might be interested in a new project coming to Brighton this summer. The River Kite Theatre Company has spent the last two years developing Space Jam: The (Unofficial Parody) Musical, a non-profit production that reimagines the film on stage. It is an interesting mix of formats, as the show combines a live cast with animated characters, accompanied by an original soundtrack that shifts between rock ballads and orchestral pieces reminiscent of 1900s cartoons.

The world premiere is scheduled for June 30, 2026, at Wagner Hall. The production features Micah Tsekiri in the role of Baikal Gordon and Luc Ashton Tucker as Sam Cadullaque, with Luc Ashton Tucker also handling the direction and production, and Ellis Ashton Tucker composing the music. For those interested in attending, tickets will be available starting May 1, 2026.
Following the opening night, the schedule includes a relaxed matinee performance on July 1, 2026, which is specifically adapted for people with disabilities, followed by an additional evening show. The event is designed for a general audience, leaning into the comedy and nostalgia associated with the original film. As part of the opening night festivities, there will also be a costume contest with a 50-pound cash prize for the winner.
