Stand-up comedy night featuring Mark Watson, with support from Elaine Fellows and Graeme Collard, as a fundraiser for NHS hospitals in Sussex.
Mark Watson is headlining The Old Market on Saturday 30 January, part of the Sleazy Saturdays club. He's a British stand-up and novelist known for observational comedy about everyday life, family dynamics and current affairs, and the night is a fundraiser for NHS hospitals in Sussex.
Watson's career started in 2002 when he won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Competition. He went on to win the inaugural Panel Prize at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006 and several Chortle Awards. You might recognise him from panel shows like Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You and Taskmaster. He's also made a name for himself with endurance performances: a 24-hour routine at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a 26.2-hour set tied to the London Marathon in 2019.
Beyond the stage, he's a published novelist. His books include Eleven (2010), The Knot (2012), Hotel Alpha (2014), Contacts (2020) and Mortification (2023), which have been translated into twelve languages.
