Live music night featuring Alicia F, Desert Vipers and Daffodildos at The Pipeline.
Alicia F, Desert Vipers and Daffodildos are playing The Pipeline on Saturday 10 October, part of the Shake Some Acton club night. It's a three-band bill with acts coming from France, Spain and right here in Brighton, so there's a fair bit of ground covered in one evening.
Alicia F are the headliners, and they're over from France on a UK tour. They've just come off a set at Rebellion Punk Festival in Blackpool, so they're in the middle of their run. They describe their sound as punk with a classic rock and roll core, but they pull in hard rock, blues, country and psychedelic as well — it's a broad mix that puts them closer to rock and roll than to a single punk subgenre.
Desert Vipers come from Valencia, Spain, and are fronted by the rock chanteuse Ana. They'll be the second act of the night, bringing that Spanish connection to the bill. Then there's Daffodildos, a three-piece from Brighton who make queer DIY punk rock anthems. They're the local presence on the line-up, so you've got a home-town band alongside two touring acts from across the channel and the continent.

Between the three of them, the night runs from the DIY punk of the Daffodildos through to the rock and roll of Alicia F, with the Desert Vipers sitting in between. It's a punk-leaning bill, but with the rock and roll and psychedelic elements of the headliners, it's not all one speed. The Pipeline is at 6 Little East Street, BN1 1HT, and the night starts at 19:00. Tickets are £11.
