Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral performs live at The Old Market, backed by a world-class ensemble including Katerina L'Dokova on piano.
Salvador Sobral plays The Old Market on Sunday 25 April, with doors opening at 18:00 and the set starting at 19:00. He's a Portuguese singer who first came to a wider audience when he won Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv with 'Amar pelos dois' — Portugal's first victory in 53 years — after winning the Festival da Canção that same year.
Born in Lisbon and shaped by his formative years in Barcelona and Mallorca, Sobral's music pulls together modern jazz improvisation, the emotional depth of fado and the textures of alternative pop. He's known for a live style that balances vulnerability with a charismatic presence, backed by a world-class ensemble. For this show, he's joined by Katerina L'Dokova on piano, André Rosinha on double bass, Eva Fernández on sax, Joel Silva on drums and percussion and Sebastiá Gris on guitar.
Beyond his solo work, he's developed several projects across different musical universes: Noko Woi, Alexandre Search, Mutrama, Alma Nuestra, Quinta das Canções and, more recently, Salvador Sobral sings Brel. His third studio album, bpm, came out in May 2021, recorded in February that year at Le Manoir de Léonstudio in France and made up entirely of original songs he wrote with Leo Aldrey, who also produced it.
