A fundraising dog swim supporting the Saltdean Lido Trust, part of DOGTEMBER 2026, with a focus on Labradors and retrievers.
Saltdean Lido is hosting a dog swim for Labradors on Sunday 4 October, starting at 15:00. It's part of DOGTEMBER 2026, a month of dog-friendly sessions at the lido, and this one is sponsored by Petgevity, who promote swimming and hydrotherapy as ways for dogs to build strength, recover from injury and maintain mobility while remaining gentle on their joints. The session is run by volunteers as a fundraiser for the Saltdean Lido Trust, the registered charity that looks after the site's Grade 2* Listed lido, which was refurbished with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The pool is 40m and heated, with easy-access steps for the dogs to get in and out. There's also a splash pool with a slide and water spouts, and grass to run on around the edges. A few things to keep in mind: no children under 16 are allowed in the main pool, though they can use the splash pool, and there's a strict No Aggression policy in force. The lido is within walking distance of the Grange Museum, Kipling Gardens — where Rudyard Kipling lived from 1897 to 1902 — and Brighton Marina, the largest in the UK.

On the practical side, a dog ticket is £6.00 (guide price). If you want to get in the water with your dog, you'll need a human swim ticket too; if you're just coming to watch, there's a Spectator ticket. The lido is at Park Road, Saltdean, BN2 8SP, and the session kicks off at 15:00 on Sunday 4 October.
