Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2026 - Sighthounds

Saltdean Lido is opening its pool to dogs on Sunday 13 September, part of the DOGTEMBER 2026 series. This particular session is for sighthounds, so expect to see plenty of long-legged, lean dogs taking a dip. It's a fundraiser run by volunteers for the Saltdean Lido Trust, the registered charity that looks after the Grade II* listed lido, which was beautifully refurbished with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Inside the secure site, dogs get access to the 40m heated pool, the splash pool with its slide and water spouts, and grass to run on. If you want to get in the water with your dog, you'll need a human swim ticket; if you're happy to stay on the side and throw a ball, a Spectator ticket is enough. Children under 16 aren't allowed in the main pool, though they can use the splash pool. A strict no-aggression policy applies throughout, so it should stay a relaxed afternoon for everyone involved.

Petgevity sponsors the event, and they've pointed out that swimming and hydrotherapy help dogs build strength, recover from injury and maintain mobility. Local businesses The Dogs Din Dins, Bowmans Premium and Erdmans Property are also lending their support. It's all for the Trust, so the money goes back into keeping the lido going.
