Royal Blood mark the release of 'Back to the Water Below' with two album launch shows at Chalk, this being the earlier set.
Royal Blood are playing Chalk on Friday 6 November, marking the release day of their new album. It's an early set, with doors opening at 17:30 and the show running from 17:30 to 19:30. The night is presented by Resident Music, and they're doing two shows at the seafront venue on the same day rather than one, so this is the earlier of the two.
For those who haven't kept up, Royal Blood are a Brighton two-piece: Michael Kerr on bass and vocals, and Ben Thatcher on drums. They've built their sound around that specific blues-rock energy you'll recognise from the White Stripes, the Black Keys and Two Gallants, but played with a bit more ferocity and volume. Their 2014 debut earned a Mercury Prize nomination and a Brit Award, and since then they've put out How Did We Get So Dark? (2017), Typhoons (2021) and Back to the Water Below (2023). They're billed as the city's 'locally sourced rock royalty', and this is their latest record coming out.
