Rival Consoles

Rival Consoles play The Old Market in Hove on Friday 6 November, bringing a brand new audio-visual live show to Brighton. It's the project of Ryan Lee West, a London-based producer who's spent eighteen years working with synthesisers to make them sound human and atmospheric. He's widely regarded as one of the UK's most influential creators of electronic music, and this show is built around his July 2025 album, Landscape from Memory, released on Erased Tapes.

While the new record is the centre of the night, the set pulls from the last fifteen years of his career. It's a long-form narrative of ideas that ranges from deep ambient works to his own take on techno, so you'll hear material from across his catalogue rather than just the latest album. The visuals are co-created and performed live by Sky Ainsbury, making the whole thing an immersive audio-visual experience rather than a DJ set.

West's work has evolved over nearly two decades, moving from the challenging EPs of his early days to more conceptual, metamorphic albums. He's known for that particular knack of making synthesisers feel organic and atmospheric, and this show brings that sound into a live setting. With the visuals running alongside, it's as much about what you see as what you hear.
