Temporary oyster and champagne bar on the seafront to celebrate the restaurant's 20th anniversary over the bank holiday weekend.
Riddle and Finns is marking its 20th anniversary in Brighton with a temporary setup on the seafront. From Friday, April 3, to Monday, April 6, 2026, they are operating an oyster and champagne bar located at Shelter Hall on King's Road. The gazebo will be situated within the business's existing boundaries and will focus exclusively on serving oysters, champagne, and sparkling wine. The service will run daily from 12:00 to 20:00 throughout the bank holiday weekend.

Rob Shenton, the director, has noted that the intention behind this pop-up is to engage more directly with the local community and commemorate two decades of the restaurant's presence in the city. While the concept is straightforward, it is worth noting that the pricing reflects a premium product. The organisers have acknowledged that the cost of these items is positioned at a higher price point, which they anticipate will appeal to a specific demographic rather than a younger, budget-conscious crowd. The selection is intentionally limited to these high-end items, avoiding spirits or other types of alcohol.
The planning process for this event involved some regulatory discussion. The Sussex Police initially raised objections regarding the sale of alcohol for takeaway, citing concerns about potential issues on the beach. However, the Brighton and Hove council ultimately approved the application. The decision was based on the understanding that the sale of limited, premium alcohol alongside food during daylight hours was unlikely to contribute to the anti-social behaviour concerns raised by the police. For those planning to visit, the event offers a specific, curated experience on the seafront rather than a broad festival atmosphere.
