Richard Walters plays The Folklore Rooms on Wednesday 16 December, with the set running from 19:30 to 23:00. It's a solo night, and the bill is a mix of new work and fan favourites.
Walters is a Grammy-nominated songwriter who's been releasing music since 2007, with five albums and four EPs to his name. As a solo artist, his songs have appeared on television shows like Grey's Anatomy, After Life and CSI: Miami, and his work has passed 200 million streams. He's also collaborated with a wide range of artists: Joe Henry, Alison Moyet, Semisonic, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Sultan + Shepard, and the poet Simon Armitage in the band L.Y.R., alongside Florence Pugh. He's had support from Lauren Laverne and Guy Garvey at BBC 6 Music, and from Jo Whiley and Dermot O'Leary at BBC Radio 2.
Beyond the albums and the collaborations, he's worked on a series of commissions. Blossomise was for The National Trust, Songs From the Solent for the Blue Marine Foundation, and the award-winning Firm as a Rock for the Durham Brass Festival 2022. Most recently, he wrote a Shipping Forecast-inspired piece for the BBC Proms 2025.
