Radio Blah Blah with Guy Lloyd

Guy Lloyd brings his Radio Blah Blah to The Actors Pub in Kemptown on Thursday 6 August, starting at 19:00. It's a bit of a hybrid: a live broadcast studio and a performance space running side by side, with bands, solo artists, comedians and poets playing live alongside interviews with local and wider figures, all in front of a live audience. Lloyd describes it as radio turned up to '11', and compares the format to the old TV shows The Tube and TFI Friday — a mix of live music and chat happening in the same room.

This edition features Gwenifer Raymond, who picked up the guitar at eight and grew up on punk and grunge. She signed to the American label Tompkins Square in 2018 and released You Never Were Much of a Dancer.

Joining her are CARNE & Nierra Creek, a Brighton quartet whose debut EP is out on Folklore Records. Between the two acts, the night covers a fair bit of ground — Raymond's punk-inflected background on one side and a local four-piece on the other, both fitting into the show's mix of live sets and interviews.
