Interactive installation where movement and touch create sound, built for children, adults and curious minds alike.
Neon Dance are bringing PULSE - Move, Touch, Discover! to The Dance Space on Sunday 25 October, from 12.30 to 4.30pm. It's an interactive installation where movement and touch create sound, and the whole thing is built for children, adults and curious minds alike. The idea is simple enough: you move, you touch, and the installation responds with sound. It's less of a performance to watch from a distance and more of a space to step into and play with.
They describe it as a playful, interactive experience, and that's exactly how it works. You're invited to play, experiment and discover the connections between your own body, technology and sound. The work draws its inspiration from the nerve endings that let us feel when a hair is moved or touched — that tiny, physical spark that triggers a reaction. Here, that reaction is audible, so the more you move and the more you touch, the more you get to hear.
Because it's built for all ages, it's as much for kids as it is for adults. It's the kind of thing that works just as well if you're there with a little one as it does if you're just coming along on your own to see how it all fits together. The focus is on the doing — moving around, touching things and hearing what happens — rather than sitting back and watching someone else do it.
