Positive Sounds Beach Party

Positive Sounds is back at Carats Cafe Bar on Saturday 29 May, the first of three beach parties they've got lined up for the summer. The others follow on Saturday 17 July and Saturday 4 September, all starting at 21:30. The whole series is built around resident DJs playing alongside the organisers' all-time favourite guests, with a top-tier sound system to carry it.

Taking the helm for the May date is Grant Dell, a DJ and producer with a deep, intelligent and funky house style rooted in the UK underground. His sound draws from a background in jazz, punk and reggae, and he honed his craft on London's pirate radio circuit and at underground parties like Wiggle and Whoop Whoop. He later spent several years in Sydney pioneering the tech-house sound, and still performs at major events through his work at Swag Records.

It's a seaside shindig in the truest sense, with the resident DJs and guests taking turns over the course of the night. If you're into house that doesn't forget its roots in jazz and reggae, Dell is a good place to start. And since this is part of a series, you can catch the later ones on 17 July and 4 September too.
