A 90-minute mindful yoga session with live improvised piano by Luke Congdon, led by Eve Crawshaw.
Piano Yoga comes to Brighton Unitarian Church on Thursday 17 September, a ninety-minute session that pairs yoga with live improvised piano. It's led by yoga teacher Eve Crawshaw, with pianist Luke Congdon providing the music throughout. The practice weaves together breath, movement and sound, and it's described as slow, mindful and embodied, drawing on Hatha and Vinyasa traditions. It closes with an extended shavasana, and it's open to all levels, so you don't need to be a regular on the mat to join in.
The pairing is a personal one. Luke Congdon and Eve Crawshaw met more than a decade ago while studying at the University of Cambridge, where he read Music and Social Anthropology and she read Social Anthropology. They've brought those two backgrounds together here: Luke brings over twenty years of playing experience, a dipABRSM with distinction in piano performance and more than seven years of teaching classical and jazz piano, while Eve's teaching is shaped by mindful movement, philosophy and embodied practice.

Because the piano is improvised, the music follows the flow of the session rather than running to a set list. The whole thing runs from 19:30 to 21:00 at the church on New Road, BN1 1UF, and tickets are £23.00.
