If you have spent any time walking along the Brighton seafront, you have likely passed Riddle and Finns at the Kings Road Arches. They are hosting an Oyster Master Class this summer, which is a 90-minute session focused on the technical side of preparing and eating oysters. It is a practical workshop designed for those who want to understand the process behind the dish, rather than just ordering it at a table.

The class covers both cold and hot preparations, and importantly, includes hands-on training on how to shuck an oyster properly. You are guided through the technique, which is useful if you have ever struggled with the tools yourself. The session also includes a few drinks to accompany the tasting: a Bloody Mary upon arrival, followed by a glass of English sparkling wine and a glass of champagne. The event is scheduled for three dates this summer: Saturday, 27 June, Saturday, 25 July, and Saturday, 29 August, all running from 10:30 to 12:00.
Beyond the tasting and the instruction, the experience includes a goody bag for attendees. This kit contains an oyster knife, an expert apron, a stainless steel mesh glove, and a copy of the class manual. They also include a bottle of Pickle House spicy tomato mix and a Riddle and Finns X Unbarred Shimmer pilsner. The cost for the session is £85.00. Given the nature of the workshop, which involves handling kitchen tools and alcohol, it is geared towards adults interested in the culinary side of seafood preparation.
