Outdoor film trail with five short films projected on walls around central Brighton, celebrating queer lives and identities.
Queer Freedom is coming to central Brighton on Saturday 24 October, an outdoor film trail that takes five short films out of the cinema and projects them onto walls and buildings across the city centre. It's part of the Oska Bright Film Festival's 'Queer Freedom' strand, which looks at LGBTQIA+ stories at the intersection of queerness and disability. Oska Bright is the world's leading film festival for films made by or featuring learning disabled and autistic people, and this trail brings that focus to the streets.
The programme gathers five shorts exploring queer identity, love, self-expression and freedom. There's I Would Like to Live on the Moon (2023) by Emily Burke, Turing (2025) by Sophie Jayne Doyle, Finding Trixie (2025) by Danny Smith, Clara (2025) by Violet Brew and Soviet Fantasia (2025) by Penn BΓ‘lint. Four of them are new from this year, and since they're projected onto the walls around town rather than a single screen, you'll be moving between them to see the whole set.
The trail is presented by Dreamy Place and videoclub in partnership with Carousel and the Oska Bright Film Festival. It runs from 8.30 to 9.30pm, so it's a night-time walk through the city centre rather than a daytime thing. The meeting point is outside Food for Friends, opposite Zizzi on Prince Albert Street (BN1 1HF), where you'll start before heading off to find the films.
