Operation Mincemeat comes to the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 27 April, the first of a short run that carries through to Saturday 1 May. It's the Olivier Award-winning best new musical, and it's playing on the UK leg of its world tour.
Set in 1943, it tells the true story of the secret mission that helped win the Second World War. The plot brings together a dead body, a fake love letter, and — of all people — Ian Fleming. It's described as a meeting of Singin' in the Rain and Strangers on a Train, and it's a fast-paced, funny take on a piece of wartime history that most of us only know as a footnote. The production has a strong pedigree behind it: it won the 2024 Olivier for Best New Musical and a Tony Award on Broadway, and it's been billed as the best-reviewed show in West End history, with 161 five-star reviews.

The run at the Theatre Royal on New Road is a short one, so you'll want to pick your dates early. It opens on Tuesday 27 April at 19:30, then runs through to Saturday 1 May. On Wednesday 28 April and Thursday 29 April, there are matinees at 14:30 as well as evening shows at 19:30. Friday 30 April has the evening performance at 19:30, and Saturday 1 May brings both a 14:30 matinee and a 19:30 evening show. Standard tickets start at £20.00, which is a guide price, so check the box office for the full range of seats across the run.
