Maripool plays The Folklore Rooms on Saturday 3 October, with Lal Tuna opening the night. It's a double bill in one of the city's smaller rooms, and the headliner is a solo project rather than a full band.
Maripool is the work of Natacha Simões, a Lisbon-born songwriter now based in London. She describes the music as intimate, guitar-driven indie rock, and the influences she lists give you a fair idea of where it sits: bedroom pop, shoegaze and midwest emo. It's a mix that pulls from a few different corners of the indie world — the lo-fi, home-recorded feel of bedroom pop, the hazy, wall-of-sound textures of shoegaze and the melodic, often earnest guitar work of midwest emo. Hearing them all in one set is a good way to get a sense of how she blends them.

With Lal Tuna on support, the evening starts with two acts on the same bill. The Folklore Rooms is at 12 North Street, right in the heart of town, so it's an easy one to get to on a Saturday night. The music starts at 7:30 pm, and tickets are £13.
