Lunatraktors play The Folklore Rooms on Wednesday 9 September, part of their autumn tour Our Deepest Sympathies. The set works its way through folk songs from the 17th century to the present day, so you'll hear things from a few different centuries in one night.

They're an award-winning neo-trad duo who call their sound 'broken folk' — they strip Anglo-Celtic traditional music down to vocal harmony and percussive dance, then build it back out with acoustic beats, accordion, whistles and deep drones. It's a long way from a standard folk club night. They've picked up a Télérama Award along the way, and RTÉ Lyric FM called them 'simply different'. MOJO put them in their top ten folk albums for 2019 and 2021, and François Gorin of Télérama described them as 'a clap of thunder over the lukewarm waters of contemporary folk'.

The Brighton date is one stop in a wider autumn tour that goes beyond the stage. Our Deepest Sympathies also includes an exhibition at Field System gallery, somatic sound workshops, performances of their theatre project TimeWeavers and a recording session in Bristol's Record Division studio. The concert is the part that lands here.

Doors open at 7:30pm and the music starts at 8:00pm. General admission is £15 with a £1.50 booking fee; concessions are £10 with a £1.00 booking fee; and there's a 'Support the Arts' ticket at £20 with a £2.00 booking fee. The venue is The Folklore Rooms, 12 North St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 3GJ.
