Longnose Puppets bring Penguin to Komedia on Saturday 19 December, a puppet show based on the award-winning book by Polly Dunbar. It's a story that starts simply enough: a boy called Ben gets a present, and inside is a penguin. The penguin doesn't speak, so Ben sends him off into outer space, and it's only with the help of a lion that the penguin finally finds his voice.
Longnose Puppets describe it as an exciting, surreal show full of surprises, and it's not just the puppets doing the work. Tom Gray, from the band Gomez, wrote the songs, and they're meant to get everyone involved, so expect the audience to play a part rather than just sit and watch. The Argus summed it up as a chance to "take an hour to restore your faith in all that is good about being alive."

It's billed as a spectacular theatre experience for all ages, with a particular eye on the 2-8 year olds, and there's a limit of three children per adult. The show runs in the Komedia Basement at 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN, and it's unreserved seating: the kids sit on the carpet and the adults take the rows behind them. Tickets are £13.50 standard.
