A major celebration of sustainable transport featuring over 100 electric vehicles, live music, stunt shows, and circus workshops along Madeira Drive.
The London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally returns for its sixth annual edition on Saturday, 20 June 2026. This event, which functions as an energy efficiency trial rather than a speed race, sees over 100 electric vehicles—ranging from cars, SUVs, and vans to buses and electric bicycles—make the journey from Westminster City School in London to the finish line on Madeira Drive in Brighton. It is a significant gathering for those interested in the practical application of sustainable transport, with the rally format focusing on the efficiency of the vehicles as they navigate the route south.

Once the vehicles arrive, Madeira Drive transforms into a 2.5-mile 'EVillage'. This space is open to the public and serves as a hub for sustainable transport, featuring interactive exhibits and demonstrations. Visitors can explore the latest electric vehicle technology and, in some cases, take the opportunity to test drive models from various manufacturers. The programme extends beyond the vehicles themselves, with a schedule of entertainment that includes live music, stunt shows, circus workshops, and slackline challenges. The day’s activities are set to run from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, providing a full day of programming along the seafront.
While the event is free for the general public to attend, there is a registration process for those participating in the rally itself. Entry fees for participants range from ÂŁ27.80 to ÂŁ65.00, which covers one vehicle and two people. This package includes breakfast, identification stickers for the vehicle, a fish and chips lunch, and access to the awards ceremony held at the Malmaison Brighton Marina. The rally is supported by a range of partners, including BYD, Geely, Maeving, Tates Motor Group, Roxform, Believ, Char.gy, and Hankook Tyre UK, with BBC Radio Sussex presenter Allison Ferns hosting the celebrations. Throughout the day, the event raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Martlets Hospice, with the awards ceremony marking the conclusion of the rally's activities.
