Legends Of Manchester

Legends of Manchester play Chalk on Friday 27 November, a tribute show that pulls from the Madchester scene. The set focuses on The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, James, and Joy Division, with The Charlatans and Inspiral Carpets also in the mix. It's a broad sweep of the era, so you'll hear the rave-inflected dance-rock of the Roses and Happy Mondays alongside the darker, post-punk lines of Joy Division.

They describe the show as an energetic recreation of the Britpop and Madchester sound, and it goes beyond just the music. They bring in film and fashion to set the scene, with flares and funky vibes meant to evoke the rave-soaked heyday of the 90s. It's as much about the look and the era as it is about the songs.

The production has a fair bit of ground behind it, having played stages ranging from 300 to 7,000 people and headlining tribute festivals across the UK. Along the way, they've shared the stage with figures from the scene they're paying homage to: Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets, Bez of Happy Mondays, Nigel Clarke of Dodgy, and Tommy Scott of Space, as well as cast members from Shane Meadows' This is England.
