A night of Latin dancing, music and celebration to welcome the New Year at Marina Studios, with opportunities to learn moves and dance the night away.
The Latin New Year's Eve party takes over Marina Studios on Thursday 31 December, with the night kicking off at 17:00. It's put on by the organisers of Brighton's Latin dance community, the same people who run the local scene and keep it going throughout the year. They describe their work as keeping the community vibrant, strong and connected by drawing in dancers from all over the world, and this is their big end-of-year gathering.
It's billed as a night of dancing, music, learning to dance and celebration. The 'learning' part is a good detail to keep in mind if you've never tried Latin dance before: there's a bit of teaching woven in, so you can pick up a few moves before you commit to the dance floor. From there, the night is about dancing the night away, recharging and welcoming the New Year with positive energy. It's as much about the dancing as it is about the countdown, so it's a long one that takes you right through to the other side of midnight.
