Jaws N Claws!

Jaws N Claws! is back at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery on Tuesday 28 July, one of the final sessions of a run that's been going since 26 May. It's a family-friendly, interactive animal handling session, and if you've got kids who'd rather be looking at a lizard than a painting, this is exactly the kind of thing they'll get a kick out of.

The whole thing is run by Phil and his menagerie, and the draw is pretty simple: you get to get up close with a range of live creatures. There are minibeasts to start with, and then it moves on to reptiles, snakes and lizards. It's not a show you just sit and watch from a distance; it's built around actually handling the animals, so the kids get to see and touch them rather than just hearing about them. It's an educational session, too, so it's as much about learning what these things are as it is about the novelty of holding one.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's not a drop-off event. It's designed for families to do together, and children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. If you're planning to go, it's also worth noting that the sessions run through the Education Pavilion, which is separate from the main museum entrance, so you'll want to head there directly rather than through the front doors. The museum itself is a big one, with collections that run from fashion and style to 20th-century design and fine art, so if you've got time to spare, you can always wander through the galleries after the session.

Tickets are £10.00, and the session on 28 July is one of the last dates of the run, which started back in May.
