Free Halloween cabaret night with burlesque, close-up and psychological magic, hypnosis and a deco-disco set of electro swing.
The North Star is turning into a Halloween cabaret on Saturday 31 October, with a line-up that runs from burlesque to close-up magic and electro swing. It's a mixed bill rather than a single act, so you'll get a few different things on the same night.
On the burlesque side, Cherry Shakewell and Miss Lily Fortune take the stage. The magic is handled by David Stewart, who does close-up magic, hypnosis and psychological illusion. To keep the whole thing moving, singing compere Missy Carter holds the night together, introducing the acts and filling the gaps in between. When the live performances wrap up, DJ Peter Von Sleaze takes over with a deco-disco set of electro swing and groovy Halloween beats, so the night carries on into the dancefloor after the cabaret finishes.
There's a bit more to the venue than just the night itself. The North Star is part of Team Domenica, and all proceeds from the pub go towards funding programmes that create employment opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and autism. So, whatever you spend on drinks throughout the evening goes back into that.
