Acoustic folk and Americana musician Greg Freeman performs live at The Green Door Store as part of the JOY Presents club programme.
Greg Freeman plays The Green Door Store on Thursday 18 February, his only name on the bill for the night. He's an acoustic, folk and Americana musician from Vermont, and the set is presented as part of the JOY. Presents club programme.
Freeman describes his work as finding emotional catharsis and present-day resonance in the eccentric ugliness of the past. It's a specific way of looking at things: he mines history for character-driven tales of violence, loss and epiphany, and those songs carry a palpable sense of place, driven by an urgent delivery and evocative lyricism. If you're into folk that looks backwards to find something that still hits home, that's the territory he works in.
