Dream-pop and gothgaze band Goodbye performing live at Alphabet in Brighton.
Brighton’s music scene has a new addition with the band Goodbye, who are scheduled to play at Alphabet on 14 April 2026. The group, which formed in 2024, has been working within the local DIY circuit, having spent time at the Green Door Store before moving towards their current sound. They are set to perform at the venue located at 11 Dyke Road, with doors opening at 19:30. It is a chance to see a band that has been developing their presence in the city over the last two years, moving from supporting other acts to headlining their own shows.

The band consists of Sarah Ryan, Alfie Beer, Megan Wheeler, Elik Eddy, and Jake Smith. Their music is often described as a mix of dream-pop and gothgaze, drawing from influences like The Smiths, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, and Death Grips. They refer to their style as 'bittersweet grooves' and 'feral', aiming to balance warm harmonies with more unsettling textures. This performance follows the release of their debut EP, These Things Take Time, which comes out on 26 March 2026. The single '13a', written by vocalist Morgan Wheeler, explores themes of intimate emotional connections and the process of letting go. Having previously supported acts such as Lambrini Girls, mary in the junkyard, and bdrmm, and having appeared at The Great Escape, the band is now establishing their own sound within the local landscape.
For those planning to attend, the event is restricted to those aged 18 and over. Tickets are priced at £11 and are available through the DICE platform, which includes a resale protection feature. The show is presented by JOY. Given the venue's capacity and the nature of the band's sound, it serves as an opportunity to see a local group that has been active in the Brighton scene for the past couple of years. The setting at Alphabet provides a space for this type of alternative music, catering to those interested in the current output of the city's indie and shoegaze-adjacent artists.
