Join actor and master storyteller Rob Marks (or one of his team) for an 80-minute guided ghost walk around Brighton's famous Lanes, visiting haunted sites with stories of murder and apparitions.
If you are looking for a different way to spend an evening in The Lanes, the Ghost Walk of The Lanes is a long-running fixture that delves into the area's reputation as Brighton's oldest and most haunted quarter. The tour is led by actor and master storyteller Rob Marks, who founded the walk back in 2008 and often appears as his character, 'Silas the Ghost Walker'. You might also find other narrators like Andrew Allen ('Jasper') or Marielle Holman ('Ebenezer') guiding the group. All the guides perform the tour dressed in full Victorian attire, which definitely adds to the atmosphere as they take you through eight different haunted sites.

The stories they share cover everything from local murders and poltergeists to apparitions, even touching on the area's alleged connection to Jack the Ripper. The walk lasts approximately 70 to 80 minutes, depending on the specific guide, making it a good length for an evening out. It’s also worth noting that Rob Marks is quite invested in the history of the area; he’s the author of the book The Ghosts of Brighton’s Lanes, an extended edition published in 2022 that features twenty-six ghost stories from the area.
If you want to join a public walk, they run throughout the season, which extends from February through December. You can find them every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening, starting promptly at 7:30 pm (19:30). The meeting spot is easy to find: it’s right outside The Druid's Head Pub on Brighton Place, which is across from Donatello's. For these public walks, you don't need to book ahead; you simply show up. The event is noted as being family-friendly and is also easily accessible for wheelchair users.
When it comes to payment, they accept both cash and card. Tickets are priced at £12.00 for adults, £10.00 for seniors (65+), and £8.00 for concessions, which includes students and those under 16. There is also a family ticket option available for £32.00, covering two adults and two children. If you have a larger group, they also offer private bookings any day or time, which cost £200.00 for a minimum of 15 people.
