British indie band Gently Tender live at The Hare & Hounds.
Gently Tender play The Hare & Hounds on Thursday 5 November, with the music starting at 20:00. They're a South London six-piece, and this is a headline show with them as the sole bill for the night.
If you haven't come across them yet, they formed from the ashes of Palma Violets. Sam Fryer, Pete Mayhew and Will Doyle were the carry-over from that band, and they were joined by Francesca Brierley, Adam Brown and Evie Hilyer-Ziegler to make the six. The sound they've built since then is indie rock that takes its cues from the British countryside — lush harmonies and pastoral melodies that pull in folk, punk and soul. It's a broad reach for one band, but those elements sit together rather than fighting for space.
They released a critically acclaimed debut album in 2022, produced by Matthew E White, and they were launching new music in the spring of 2026. This date comes a few months after that, so the set should draw on both the debut and the newer material they've been rolling out. Between the two, you'll hear the folk-leaning melodies and the punkier edges that define them.
