A monthly free-entry live music show featuring three independent folk artists, strictly 18+ and fully seated.
The Folklore Rooms host another Folklore Monthly Showcase on Tuesday 20 October, with Scott C Park, Maya Donovan and Betsan on the bill. It's a three-act night, and as the name suggests, it's part of the venue's regular series. The Folklore Rooms is a small Brighton space for independent artists and musicians, and since 2014 the showcase has brought in three new artists each month for audiences to discover. Over the years it's grown into a reliable fixture of the city's folk and independent scene.
On this particular night, Scott C Park performs as a trio, Maya Donovan comes over from the US, and Betsan rounds out the three. Each gets their own slot, so you'll hear three different sets in one evening rather than one long line-up. If you've been following the showcase for a while, you'll know the format: a new set of names every month, and a night that's as much about the discovery as the music itself.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you head down. Entry is free, but it's first come, first served, so the best bet is to arrive early and join the queue to make sure you get in. The room is fully seated, so once the seats are gone, that's it. It's also strictly 18+, so you'll need to be of age to get through the door.
