Flote Sulu headline The Pipeline on Saturday 19 September, as part of a four-band bill put on by An Alternative Gathering. It's a night of loud, genre-free live music in the grunge and alt-rock vein, and the line-up leans heavily on the local scene.
Flote Sulu are a Brighton band, and they describe themselves as a three-fanged, animalistic alt-rock act. They're joined by Danger of Death, a Brighton-based three-piece playing post-punk, alt-rock and art-rock, and Blow Up Doll, Brighton grunge punks. The fourth band, Khoshekh, comes from Ipswich, where they play alt-rock and grunge with a sprinkling of stoner rock mixed in. Between them, that's three Brighton bands and one from Suffolk, all working within the same rough territory of loud, guitar-driven music.
An Alternative Gathering is the name behind the night, and the whole thing is billed as an evening of loud, genre-free live music. With grunge, alt-rock, post-punk and art-rock all on the same bill, it's a fair description of what's on offer.
